What's the difference between a Mixologist and a Bartender? The first major difference is Mixologists are able to create hundreds of traditional and modern drinks from memory; accurately and consistently. While Bartenders might only have to pour draft beer (or pop tops) and make a dozen or so common drinks while working in a neighborhood bar; Mixologists work for the area's BEST bars and restaurants, working for a wide variety of clientele, and have to have a HUGE arsenal of drinks in their repertoire to meet the demands of their thirsty customers! Secondly, due to their advanced training and abilities behind the bar, Mixologists work for "high-end" establishments that cater to "higher-class" guests; hence, most Mixologists make MUCH more money than normal Bartenders |
